made in the dark

Wed Sep 30, 2009, 4:28 AM
ok, so i'm bored and feeling compelled to Talk About My Life on the internet. (title has nothing to do with anything, just thought i'd share what i'm listening to)

currently postponing packing or preparing in any way for going back to uni this weekend. as with the beginning of every term i have a strong urge to just not go. it's partly because i miss home, but also the idea of being a 3rd year (of a 4 yr course, though) is scary. and 3rd lots of people are on years abroad. even with school friends i don't see in term time, it feels a bit strange that they'll be in another country.

this summer's been a strange thing. it's both dragged on and gone really quickly. having been rejected by (approximately) 242347 engineering companies i couldn't face looking for a ';proper' summer job, so i've been doing voluntary work. though i have made no money, i do have a warm, fuzzy feeling inside...and that's nice.

but onto dA related things, i've actually done some drawing this summer. rarely good and even rarer-ly finished, but i'll try and put some of it up soon...ooh and there's some 'artisan crafts' *exciting*.

this term i'll be doing some illustrations for my college's journal. the journal is fairly feminist and i thought that wouldn't be a problem. regardless of my slightly confused views, i'd be drawing pictures to text...how hard can it be? so far the articles are fine, but everytime i research anything to do with feminism for it, i end up wanting to break things. *sigh*

also mildly frustrating is that yesterday i had my first "youth of today" moment. i miss being part of the youth of today. also this summer, a 16 year old girl asked me if i was married, and msn news has informed me that at 20 i should wear only beige knee length skirt suits whereas at 19 i could, apparently, wear tie-dye t shirts and denim mini shorts. i don't like tie-dye anyway ;P

wow, dA really brings out the emo in me, i'm actually quite happy atm :D
btw, my favourite bit of conversation recently
niri: so i was listening to arcade fire and neutral milk hotel today...
liam: and you thought "why do people bother making music anymore, when those albums have already been made"
